Signals, clusters, and AI briefings

This article explains how monitored source activity becomes signals, how related signals are clustered, and how AI turns that evidence into analytical briefings.

Concepts

Signals

A signal is a relevant finding from a monitored source. It usually starts as an article or source item that matches a watchlist term, alias, entity, source rule, or contextual pattern. Signals are evidence candidates, not final conclusions.

Enrichment

After a signal is created, the system adds useful metadata such as summary, language, source, timestamp, detected entities, risk labels, topical relevance, and links back to the original material.

Clusters

Clusters group related signals so users see a developing story instead of disconnected mentions. The system looks at shared entities, similar topics, time proximity, source diversity, repeated claims, and evidence strength.

AI analysis

AI writes from selected signals, source text, metadata, and citations. It identifies key developments, timelines, contradictions, risk implications, and follow-up questions. It should not be treated as a source of record by itself.

Trust boundary

The briefing is analytical assistance. Before acting on sensitive conclusions, users should review the citations, original sources, and preserved evidence.

Workflow

  3. 3Group related signals into clusters when they describe the same developing issue.
  4. 4Rank the clusters by relevance, freshness, source diversity, and evidence quality.
  5. 5Generate a briefing with concise analysis, citations, and follow-up questions.
  6. 6Queue email delivery only when automatic email settings allow it.
